Verena Meraldi Top-Executive
I’ve dedicated my career with HX Expeditions to bridging the worlds of research, education, and tourism to foster meaningful engagement with the polar regions.
I lead the development of the HX Expeditions Science & Education Program, which transforms expedition cruise vessels into platforms for world-class research and immersive guest learning. Through partnerships with international institutions and a growing network of onboard scientists, this program enables real-time data collection across the Arctic and Antarctic—while empowering guests to become active participants in citizen science initiatives.
In collaboration with the University of Tasmania, I was also involved in the development of the Antarctic Introduction short course, an innovative pre-voyage learning experience that offers travellers and staff a foundational understanding of the Antarctic environment, its history, governance, and global significance. This course is helping shape a new generation of informed and inspired polar ambassadors.
My work sits at the intersection of science, storytelling, and stewardship, with a focus on translating cutting-edge research into accessible, actionable insights for a global audience. I’m especially passionate about initiatives that amplify the voices of scientists in the field and foster environmental responsibility through experiential learning.
