PERSONAL SUMMARY:
In my roles at the senior executive and executive levels I’ve been told on multiple occasions by recruiters, leaders, and mentors that I’m a ‘unicorn’. Thanks to working in diverse fields and building expertise from the ground up across a varied career in the private and public sector, I much prefer the term ‘multi-skilled’. All supported by a career tested and proven under extreme conditions, with a rolling record of success.

My ‘failures’ – invaluable lessons that empower, drive, teach, deliver improvement, and shape my future success. Win, lose, or draw – I’m still learning and improving personally and professionally by embracing all three.

I have a personal and professional high threshold for risk and innovative use of skills, experience, and technology to manage that risk and deliver success. My personal and professional success has been shaped by circumstance; my work across emergency services and crisis management influenced by genuine ‘life or death’ decisions. My work in emergency and crisis public information tested in the real-world environment and used in planning/training for future crises.

My media and communications skills allow me to lead the development, crafting, and tactical delivery of the message, through to physically creating the content that tells the story. My record of achievement and success by doing more in-house is supported by having so few examples of ‘success’ through outsourcing. I love to build my team, refine their capability, and deliver meaningful, tangible and cost-effective results.

I don’t think it makes me a ‘unicorn’. I think it simply means I have a lot of skills, experience, and capability to offer when leading, empowering, growing, and achieving alongside a team (workforce and leadership) in a reciprocal and complementary environment.
