University of Pennsylvania Institutes
The University of Pennsylvania offers liberal arts and sciences programs and research opportunities at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. Community engagement is a significant aspect of education at the university, with over 300 volunteer and community service programs and more than 160 academic community service courses. These initiatives are coordinated by the Civic House, the Fox Leadership Program, Penn Volunteers in Public Service, and other organizations.
The university offers undergraduate degrees in over 140 programs, including Actuarial Sciences, Comparative Literature, and Insurance and Risk Management. As a member of the Ivy League, Penn provides a rigorous academic environment. Graduate programs include more than 180 options, such as Anthropology, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Classical Studies, and Women’s Studies.
Admissions require submission of both a University of Pennsylvania application and the Common Application, along with ACT scores (including the writing portion) or SAT reasoning test scores and two SAT subject tests. Due to its national ranking, admission is highly competitive. Financial aid is awarded based solely on financial need and includes Pell Grants, the Penn Grant, SEOG Grants, and work-study programs. Penn aims to provide aid packages without loans.
