Peter O'Connell ^Investor

A corporate executive, entrepreneur, board member, strategist, adviser, and venture capitalist with over 40 years of experience, my career includes management of small and large organisations, corporate and international business law, product development, business development, and strategy across a variety of industries including telecommunications, energy, technology, and infrastructure.

I am currently the Managing Director of Climatech Zero and a Co-founder, where I utilise my experience in the technology and energy sectors.

As a co-founder and former CEO and Managing Director of the mobile phone services and energy provider, amaysim Australia, I arranged for the sale of amaysim’s energy business to AGL in 2020, and its mobile business to Optus in 2021. I was also part of the leadership team that envisaged and organised the formation of Optus, assisting the Federal Government to carry out vital Australian Telecommunications industry reforms in the early 1990s.

I am the Chair of Superloop Limited and Padua Financial Group, I have held senior executive and board roles at amaysim, Optus Communications, BellSouth, eircom (Ireland’s national carrier) and Meteor (an Irish mobile operator). I was also the founder of Hargrave Consultants, a boutique advisory business in telecommunications and technology, and was formerly a Commercial and International business law partner at major Australian law firms Minter Ellison and Gilbert & Tobin.

I have extensive board experience, having served on a variety of boards including Film Australia, Rail Access Corporation (NSW), Stadium Australia Limited, Trustee of the Australian Museum, Ticketek, Dainty Corporation, Perisher Blue Pty Limited, Multiplex Infrastructure, Sigtech, and Commander Communications. I have also maintained an active and successful venture capital portfolio of private investments in digital technology, software, AI, telecommunications, and energy.
