PERSONAL SUMMARY:
Nat Simons is the co-founder of Prelude Ventures, a family-backed cleantech venture fund primarily focusing on early-stage companies that will accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. Simons also oversees Meritage Group LP, an investment manager operating funds with both fund-of-funds and direct investing strategies. The Meritage funds were spun out of Renaissance Technologies, where Nat was a principal and employed from 1994-2011.
Simons is also co-founder of Sea Change Foundation, a family foundation dedicated to achieving meaningful social impact through leveraged philanthropy that addresses the most pressing problems facing the world today. In 2017 he joined The Giving Pledge, an effort started by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet that invites wealthy global individuals to commit the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes.
Simons holds degrees in Economics and Mathematics from UC Berkeley, where he is currently a member of the Board of Visitors.
